How to Stuff your Cushion
This procedure can be done for foam only or foam w/ fiberfill wrap, along with L & T shaped cushions.

Supplies Needed to Complete this Task
You will need the following to stuff your new cushions: Cover to be stuffed and foam replacement cut to size. You may need a belt or rope with scissors depending on your strength.

Preparing your Cover for the Foam
Completely remove all fillers (which could be old foam, fiberfill, or another filler) from your marine foam cushions or other item, so that you are just left with an empty cover. Also, if your covers are dirty, now may be the chance to give them a wash (assuming they are washable.) Wait for the cover to dry and then proceed with stuffing your cushion or mattress replacement. Lay the cover out flat as shown in the picture at the right. Unzip the cover. If your cover zipper extends on both sides as shown in the picture, fold back the flap so that your cover is easier to stuff.

Inserting the foam into the Cushion
Take the cushion or seat back replacement foam you have cut to size and position it in the cover. Then, fold the foam just as shown in picture 1. If you're not able to do this, you can also use rope or a belt to get the foam into this position. Please be careful with the rope--too narrow a rope may tear into the foam. After you have the foam folded, proceed to insert the foam into the cushion. See picture 2. Continue to insert the foam into the cushion as far as possible, touching the front of the cover. See picture 3. After you have done this, let go with your hand. The end result should look similar to picture 4. If you used a belt, unbuckle and remove the belt to release the foam. With rope, cut or untie it. It is okay if the cover is not even at this point. The next step will even out the cover.

Evening out the Cover
Usually after the foam has been inserted into the cover, the cover will need to be evened out. The goal is to have the seams of the cover even to the edge of the foam, as shown in the picture at the right. To do this, continue pulling and pushing the cover into position, evening out the wrinkles as they occur. Don't be afraid to put your hands inside the cover as you are doing this to get the foam down if it is sticking to the cover. Get the cover even to the foam about 85% to 90% of the way.

Zipping up the Cover
In most cases the foam will be bulging out of the cover when you go to zip it up. This is normal and actually is expected. Continue zipping up the cover as you tuck in the foam, as shown in the pictures below. You should be able to Tuck and Zip all the way through the cover. After the cover has been fully zipped up, you can continue pulling and pushing the cover into place if necessary.

Final Results
Your cushion should look similar to the picture at the right. The seams should be even with or close to the edge of the foam. There should be no wrinkles in the fabric, unless of course the fabric itself is worn out. After you have completed all you cushions and put them back in your couch or chair, stand back to appreciate all the work you have done. It is now time to put all your hard work to good use! Throw yourself on the couch and Relax!
